Regular Season Round 4: Split - Cluj Napoca 87-80

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked CroatianSplit as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Split defeated top-ranked Romanian Cluj Napoca at home 87-80 . It was a key game for the top position in the league. Split made 27-of-31 free shots (87.1 percent) during the game, while Cluj Napoca only scored eight points from the stripe. Split forced 24 Cluj Napoca turnovers. Strangely Cluj Napoca outrebounded Split 43-26 including 31 on the defensive glass. 27 personal fouls committed by Cluj Napoca helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Jake Stephens (213-1999, college: Chattanooga) who helped to win the game recording 30 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his thirteen free throws !!!). Guard Antonio Jordano (191-1999) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Serbian center Dusan Miletic (213-1998) replied with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and Panamanian guard Iverson Molinar (193-1999, college: MSU) added 8 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists in the effort for Cluj Napoca. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with 3 other teams. Defending Romanian champion Cluj Napoca still keeps top place with two games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams.
